Meet Haydee

Haydee Navarro is from San Diego California and a self candle collector herself. Her candle making journey started back in 2012 when she was bed bound & did her research on most designer candles & different waxes. 

When Haydee found herself vulnerable she went to visit a family member in Hollywood & they discussed ideas & that's when her drive started. She applied her artistic skills learned in Art class. She was in SCPA and took Art in Jr & High school.  Hands on has always been her passion & handcrafting  soy candle gave her peace and helped her cope with anxiety.  She completely fell in love with candle making and her passion grew stronger. She slowly started experimenting until she perfected a candle after three long months of trial & error.

Haydee started noticing headaches and black soot from other designer candles and when she would burn her candles it was a whole other enchilada! Much cleaner, smoother & jars didn't have black residue. WICK TLC!

She even enrolled in more candle making classes to learn more and learn on different techniques to work with different wax blends.

In 2013 Haydee finally returned back to  work full time, and would also create beautiful candles on the weekends. She participated in community events, vendor opportunities in farmer's markets. She also met with a business counselor on her lunch breaks. She planned out her future events and collaborated with Sew Loka to have Candle making classes. While working as a Social Service Tech in San Diego, Haydee became the candle gal for the teachers, college students, friends &  family.

Though Haydee had to close her shop in 2017 after her relocation, Velapure was re-born right after the birth of her two beautiful daughters and when she lost her new job due to the pandemic. Her style is very simple because she wants to keep her candles high quality yet affordable. She teaches others the importance of showing candles some TLC for a clean burn. Very simple!
